*Edit: When I took my car to them I was having problems with it starting up after fueling. They found the timing to be the problem, as well as the catalytic converters and the purge valve. I paid over $1,700 to get a timing belt comp kit, catalytic converters, purge valve, fuel system cleaning, and some routine fluid maintenance. Less than a month later my car broke down about an hour and a half away and they left me stranded. My timing belt that they were supposed to have just changed snapped and bent some pins in my motor. I called them multiple times immediately and was told that they would contact me back. They never contacted me until I went up there in person days later (since I didn’t have my car it was difficult for me to find a way there). Only when I went in there in person and threatened with a lawyer did they even attempt to try to help me resolve my issues 4 days after my car initially broke down The timing belt was never actually changed by them (there were no numbers or even traces of numbers on the belt), and their neglect cost me my entire vehicle. The atmosphere is nice, the employees are fun yet down to business when necessary. I came in with a car problem, it took a few days for them to go over everything (it had been a couple years since I’d even had a tune up). They completed several things, and my car does idle and run a bit smoother. The main issue that I originally had is still unresolved, however they’re taking it back in and retesting everything to try to repair what is not working correctly. - Paul and Mike, took care of my F 250 7.3 which needed a new starter. While we had some scheduling snafus they took care of me and also fixed the issue I caused on my girlfriends car for free after I replaced struts. No more needs to be said on that. - Both me and my roommate have been going to these guys for over a year now. I recently had a timing belt and head gasket repairs done on my Jeep and the time it took was less than what they quoted me at, and service was awesome. They also had my roommates Jeep for an engine code and did a full diagnostic before finding out the problem was a super expensive fix and they were not even mad when we decided to take it to the dealership for warranty repair instead of using them. Paul the owner is a super personable guy and if you ask for explanations he will break everything down in a super simple way that anyone can understand. - They've done a great job with my jeep. Previous ownership did some work. Paul, being a good businessman, took over warranty work done prior. No problems with doing the job. Lee is a man I can do work with. Between him and Paul, they can keep that place going. Lee being a very detailed kind of guy, and Paul being generous enough to use good sense and savvy they helped me numerous times and didn't do what they could've done and charged ridiculous for these things. - I initially took my older Jeep to them knowing that it had several problems. They replaced my transmission, fixed rusted brake lines, and stuck break calipers among other minor things. They did all repairs in a timely manner and kept me updated on what was going on. Then, after having it back and driving it around for a week or 2 I noticed it was leaking transmission fluid so I returned it to the shop and they said they would look at it. That's were things changed. They kept my car for nearly a month and I called them 5 different times, talking to Mike each time, asking what was going on and kept getting told that they would call me back until finally he said it was a leaking transfer case seal and the amount he quoted me was more than I could afford after all of the other repairs, which I told him. He said he was going to see if he could work something out for a discount and would get back to me. He never did. After week four of them keeping my Jeep I showed up unannounced and Mike looked surprised to see me and when I asked why they couldn't call me back he told me that he thought I had already picked it up but the look on his face said otherwise. I ended up taking it to another shop to have repaired and was told that it was something that should have been looked at/replaced when the transmission was replaced. The other shop made the repair and I had my car back in 3 days. Fast forward a month or two, I called Indian River auto to try to get clarification on why they did find that the first time and the call was answered by the owner Paul. He was very apologetic and told me that had I talked to him that I would've never had those issues and that Mike, that I had dealt with, had since been let go of because of these types of issues/lack of communication with customers. Paul told me to bring in the invoice from the other shop and he would reimburse me as well as extend the warranty on the transmission. The owner did everything he could to make amends and has gained my respect as a business owner. I think that the issue I had was solely due to the fact that I was dealing with a manager that couldn't handle everything on his plate and it gave me a negative view of the business which has since been changed. - The heat in my car hasn't worked for a few weeks now. I took it to a shop a few weeks ago who told me I needed a heater core because it was all clogged up for the tune of $2000!!! I decided to just deal with the cold till i saved up for the repair. I overheard a lady in walmart talking about her recent repair here and figured it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion, and I didn't have to pay for a diagnostic. They were busy when I walked in but got my car looked at in a reasonable time frame. The owner Paul loved at my car himself. He agreed that the heater core was clogged but offered to try to flush it out before saying it needed to be replaced. 45 minutes later, I was driving down the road in a toasty car and only spent $100. - No one wants to end up in a repair shop the week of a holiday, but I am so happy that my Cruze ended up here! My alternator died on my car literally on Indian River in front of the shop at 4:30 on Thanksgiving Eve. I didn't know what to do. Therese at the desk helped me stop freaking out and told me they would get me back on the road. The owner Paul and 2 of the technicians pushed my vehicle off of indian river, across their parking lot and got it inside. They stayed late to get my car fixed so I could get on the road the next morning to spend the Holiday with my family. - This place replaced my motor at a very good price. I baught my car off of OfferUp from a guy about a year ago. When my inspection came due, I failed it because my airbag light would not come on. I took my car here and they found out the person that had the car before me put black tape on the airbag light. They fixed everything the CORRECT and LEGAL way. Everytime I come here, I have nothing but a GREAT customer experience. This is the best mechanic shop I have ever been to. - I stumbled across this place at first because it was one of the only shops open on Labor Day and my car was making a weird noise. Man I'm glad I did! I was greeted by Paul and we discussed my issue and he had it up to be checked within the hour. I definitely appreciate the fact that he called me to let me know what was going on with updates, gave me a quote for the work (very reasonable), and offered to explain everything I had questions about. To find a shop that takes the time to actually help their customers, explain things, and not try and upsell you is awesome. It ended up being a backwards carrier bearing (installed somewhere else) but their mechanic noticed it right away. I don't really write reviews but I was so pleased I felt this shop deserved it. - Hey guys, if you're looking for a good shop who's honest and affordable, then these are the guys. I'm a pretty savy shopper and they beat out everyone else. I have multiple vehicles and I do most of my own work, but if there is something I can't figure out, I'll take to them and they'll let me know exactly what the problem is and if I can fix it I will, but if I can't I will always let them repair the issue. Like I said, I've shopped around and found them with the best prices in town plus they offer a military discount which applies to labor only. If you have your own parts, they will use them for you but they can not offer a warranty on your parts. Anyway id give them 10 stars if that were available. - We pulled into town for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary on a Thursday night. The van was running hot and had developed a coolant leak. I called up Mike on Friday morning and he told me he could get it looked at in the next couple hours and get it fixed. The repair was actually finished on Saturday, but we left on Monday and got home without incident. Mike also gave us a tremendous veteran discount and a free oil change to boot! He also gave my father-in-law a free oil change for his anniversary! I have one piece of constructive feedback though. Mike is a great guy, but I was very concerned my van wouldn't get fixed until we picked it up on Saturday. Mike is so nice to people that I think he gets involved in personal conversations at the expense of timely and accurate communications. Given that the repair was made correctly, the repair was completed within our minimally acceptable timeline, we got home without incident, and the fact that Mike gave us such a good deal - you can file my constructive feedback in the would have been "nice to have" category. - Wow!! What a repair shop!!! My wife and I are visiting the area from Florida. Our truck suddenly overheated about 5:30PM on Tuesday. We were parked in a gas station parking lot; and called AAA and they said they would get to me by 8:00PM -- a lot of good that would do. I searched for "auto repair" on my phone and found Indian River as the closest; called them; and Paul Russell told me they were opened until 6:00PM. I was about 2 miles away and drove there. He checked out my truck and found the thermostat housing and the water pump were bad. The thermostat housing is plastic (thank you, Ford) and the truck has 150,000 miles on it, so these repairs weren't out of line. He said he would be able to have it fixed first thing in the morning. I told him I didn't have a "Plan B" because I was visiting from out of town. He immediately called one of his mechanics and asked him if he would stay until the truck was repaired; and that he (Paul) would stay also to work on the truck with him. The mechanic agreed to stay and they worked on the truck and got it all finished in less than two hours. This was really a big deal for my wife and me because we really did not have a Plan B and had to drive to Williamsburg to stay the night after visiting in Virginia Beach all day. Not only was Paul extremely courteous and understanding, but he was even more accommodating with the charge for the service. I am a veteran and he gave me a veteran discount in spite of having to work way past the closing time for his shop. Our drive to Williamsburg proved that the work was done very professionally. And Paul's conversation during the time we were waiting was proof that he is not only a great business owner, but also a great Christian who cares about his employees and his customers. - We took my daughter’s wounded car to Indian River Auto and Transmission in April 2019 to determine whether the engine could be repaired. Mike spoke with us at the time and promised a careful examination. It turned out that the engine was ruined but Mike could install a used or a new engine for a substantial but not outrageous sum. We decided against putting any more money into the car due to its age, so I can’t speak to the work the shop actually does. But throughout our several interactions, and in speaking with my daughter since, Mike was friendly, outgoing, upbeat and very willing to discuss options. He even refused payment for examining the car. He treated my daughter seriously and with respect, unlike some of her experiences in other situations, even gave her a card for a free oil change in the future despite not getting our business. I have never been in a repair shop where people have been so nice and be straight up front with you. They will tell you if they can do the work before just jumping on your car and making you spend more that you don't need to spend. - So Nancy and I have been coming here for several years and the service has always been awesome. Recently I had a leak on my GMC Yukon which was kicking my butt so I called and talked to Mike and he got me in the next day, troubleshot my problem and got me back on the road that day. Very reasonable and very professional. Ever hear when it rains it pours, well, the next day I have a rattling noise coming from my engine so I stopped in on my way home “ convenient for me “ and Mike comes out, listens and tells me I have a bad bearing in my tension arm pulley. He has a new one delivered and swapped out in less than 15 minutes and charges me nothing. Tells me to have a great day. Beat that for service. - I took my Jeep in to have the transmission looked at because the vehicle was kicking. The mechanic did an excellent job at checking the transmission and informed me that the issue was in fact my motor mount. I then asked them to fix some seals that were leaking oil along with fixing the motor mount. The job was done in a couple days. While doing the job, they noticed some vacuum lines that went bad and took care of them for me, going above and beyond like that makes a big difference. The Jeep is now running a lot better now. These guys have been excellent to deal with through the entire process. I highly recommend them, they will take good care of you and your vehicle. - My Jeep is currently being fixed by Indian River Auto. So far the customer service has been excellent! It is taking longer than anticipated due to having to wait on parts to ship in but so far they seem honest, knowledgeable and friendly. - This place is great!! I found this place by searching on Google and reading the past reviews. Most people have no problem posting negative reviews but to get positive reviews can often be a challenge but I can honestly say that this place is A++! I was having an issue with my engine and it had to be replace which was very emotional for me, but Mike and Teresa were excellent at putting my mind at ease and getting me back on the road in no time! They still need to hit their stride though, hard to tell how they will do right now. I had a couple issues with the work they did, but they did fix it eventually for free. - Earlier this year I was passing through Va. on my way to a family wedding in New England. Without warning my engine died, leaving me stuck in the left turn lane at a stoplight. Fortunately, a quick Google search brought up this highly rated shop and they were able to get a wrecker headed to me. My fears were confirmed shortly after the car and I were delivered to them; my engine had to be replaced. The professional and courteous discussion showed me that, if I had to do it, at least I was in the a good place to get it done. Their courtesy went much farther than that; they helped me find and delivered me to an affordable motel. I was very concerned that I wasn't going to make it to the wedding, and I'm afraid I was a huge pain to them, although they were never less than kind, with calls for progress reports. They also offered to bring me more stuff from my car and to take me shopping! Through no fault of theirs (wrong engine delivered) the job took longer than expected and the motel charges were climbing quickly. Amazingly, when it was time to settle up and get back on the road, the bill was for a LOT less than the estimate they provided. I doubt they made a penny over-all but they remained extremely courteous, concerned and caring. I could not have asked for anything more. The one down side to this (aside from missing the wedding and needing another engine), is that I live too far away from them to use them exclusively. You often hear of travelers being taken advantage of if they need help on the road. I don't doubt that it happens. But not at this place! The best ever! - My Acura TL 2004 is my baby. She was losing power and I did not know why. - Melissa is the greatest... So often you go to an auto shop and people want to rush you out or get over but Melissa and Paul are the greatest. Got both cars taken care of and w impeccable timing but even moreso was the experience. To have someone that actually cares and deals w you as a person and not just a customer is great. - I had such a wonderful experience here! I showed up without an appointment and, even though they were very busy, they got me in and out of there in no time! The guy working the front desk was super helpful and the mechanics I interacted with were so polite and down to earth. - I have brought my SUV in with steering and air conditioning problems recently and Paul contacted within an hour after drop off and could tell me what was wrong.
